Chihao, a former visiting Ph.D. student from Dr. Shihua Zhang’s lab, developed the information-theoretic classification accuracy (ITCA), a criterion to guide the combination of ambiguous outcome labels by balancing the prediction accuracy and the outcome resolution. Thanks to the collaboration with Dr. Wei Li’s lab at UC Irvine, Heather wrote this article to compare PCA with SVA, PEER, and HCP for hidden variable inference in molecular QTL mapping. The conclusion is that PCA outperforms the three other methods. The work was published in Genome Biology. Congratulations!
